About · Since 1998

A gallery built for slow looking.

Pallowmere Gallery opened in a converted printing house on Södermalm in 1998, founded by Elin Pallowmere on a simple premise: that art needs rooms with good light, labels you can finish, and all the time in the world.

Twenty-eight years later the premise hasn’t changed. We represent twenty-four artists, mount six to eight exhibitions a year across Stockholm and Oslo, and still open the doors an hour early on the first Sunday of every show — one work, one bench, no hurry.

Alongside the exhibitions we run a residency house in Norrtälje, an in-house publishing desk, and a public programme of talks, walkthroughs and reading groups. Everything is free to enter, and almost everything is free to join.

Beyond the walls

What we do besides exhibitions.

Residencies in Norrtälje, books edited in-house, a handful of fairs a year, and a public programme that runs weekly while shows are open.
